Kaitlyn, It is interesting that you chose the scantron as your technology that improved English. It definitely does make the grading process easier for multiple choice questions. I think it also makes it easier for the students to take the test in the first place. However, I think its important to recognize that the scantron often makes mistakes and we can not fully rely on this as a grading option. It is certainly a valuable piece of technology that so many people utilize in the classroom.
I agree that the Scantron has made grading a very easy process. I have used Scantrons hundreds of times on tests, especially in Social Studies and English. As a math major, I do not think I will use Scantrons too often in my classroom. It is important to see the students' work to see if they understand how they got to the final answer. Scantrons also only give the option for a question to be right or wrong and there is no room to give partial credit.
